Vegas Baby!

I’m in Las Vegas for a few days and went to see the Golden Knights host the Blackhawks on Thursday. If you have never been to a hockey game at the T-Mobile Arena, I suggest you put it on your bucket list.

The atmosphere at the game is amazing (although the music does vibrate through your entire body). The pre-game show, the crowd and everything else was tremendous in Sin City.

They certainly know how to put on a show! It was quite the experience.

WEEK OF DECEMBER 10-16

4 Games – Arizona, Buffalo, Carolina, Chicago, Detroit,Edmonton, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, Vancouver, Winnipeg

3 Games – Boston, Calgary, Colorado, Columbus, Dallas, Florida, Minnesota, Montreal, Nashville, New Jersey, New York Islanders, New York Rangers, Ottawa, Philadelphia, St. Louis, San Jose, Tampa Bay, Toronto, Vegas, Washington

2 Games – Anaheim

Arizona and Los Angeles play all four games on the road.

Dallas, Edmonton, Ottawa, Philadelphia, Toronto and Vegas play three games on the road.

Carolina, Chicago, Columbus, Minnesota, Nashville, the New York Islanders, St. Louis and Winnipeg play three games at home.

INJURIES

Matt Duchene could be out for a while with a lower-body injury. (Click here to see the rest of the injury list.)

Note: A tired team is one that has played the day or night before and is going against a team that did not play the previous day or night. The reverse is true for a rested team.

ANAHEIM

Games this week

vs. Dallas, @ Columbus

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

The Ducks are in dire need of some secondary scoring so they dealt for Daniel Sprong from Pittsburgh and gave up Marcus Pettersson in the deal. Sprong hadn’t scored in 16 games with Pittsburgh but potted his first of the season in his Ducks debut. The Ducks hope that Sprong works out as well as Pontus Aberg who was acquired off waivers from Edmonton before the start of the season and had nine goals and 15 points in 24 games. Rickard Rakell missed practice on Thursday with a lower-body injury. Adam Henrique has been hot of late and is on a six-game points streak. Look for Corey Perry to return to action around the beginning of March. He has missed all season after undergoing knee surgery for a torn meniscus in training camp.

ARIZONA

Games this week

@ Boston, @ Buffalo, @ New York Rangers, @ Carolina

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: @ New York Rangers (Thursday)

Notes

The Coyotes play all four games this week on the road including three games in four nights. Adin Hill has been outstanding of late as he was the NHL’s second star of the week and has won his last four starts. If Antti Raanta is not ready to go, then Hill will play three games and if Raanta can play, the duo will likely split the net. Darcy Kuemper practiced Wednesday and was the backup to Hill Thursday night as Raanta was unable to go. Nick Schmaltz has two goals and five points in four games since his trade from Chicago. Michael Grabner is out of action after he suffered an ugly eye injury. Mario Kempe has been playing in his spot on the third line. Grabner is out indefinitely.

BOSTON

Games this week

vs. Arizona, @ Pittsburgh, vs. Buffalo

Rested Team: vs. Buffalo (Sunday)

Tired Team: None

Notes

The Bruins finally got defenseman Charlie McAvoy back after he missed the previous 20 games with a concussion. He started the season off with a goal and five assists in seven games. The Bruins were hurting on the blueline with McAvoy, Zdeno Chara and Kevan Miller all out of action but at least McAvoy, the best of the bunch, is back. Miller was placed on the injured reserve list with a cartilage injury to his larynx. Boston claimed Gemel Smith off waivers from Dallas but don’t expect a lot fantasy-wise as he is a bottom-six forward. Jaroslav Halak is 8-4-2 with a 2.25 GAA but has given up eight goals in his last two starts, both losses.

BUFFALO

Games this week

vs. Los Angeles, vs. Arizona, @ Washington, @ Boston

Rested Team: vs. Los Angeles (Tuesday)

Tired Team: @ Boston (Sunday)

Notes

The Sabres play three games in four nights as part of their four-game week. Carter Hutton should get the call in net three times with Linus Ullmark playing once. Rasmus Dahlin was the first overall pick in the 2018 Draft and he certainly was playing like it in November as he was named the NHL’s rookie of the month. He had a goal and 10 points in 15 games and certainly at the tender age of 18, looks like a game-changing defenseman. The Sabres have a good one in Dahlin who will be great, sooner rather than later. Jake McCabe is week-to-week with an upper body injury. Patrik Berglund has only two goals and four points in 22 games heading into action Thursday but wasn’t worried about his slow start. He should be. Conor Sheary returned from an upper-body injury and is playing with Casey Mittelstadt and Kyle Okposo.

CALGARY

Games this week

vs. Philadelphia, @ Minnesota, @ St. Louis

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: @ St. Louis (Sunday)

Notes

It was a wild one against Columbus on Tuesday as the Flames outscored the Blue Jackets 9-6. There were some big nights on the scoresheet as Johnny Gaudreau and Sean Monahan each had four points while Matthew Tkachuk and Mark Giordano had three apiece. It wasn’t so great for goaltender David Rittich who gave up three goals on only 14 shots before he was pulled for Mike Smith. Smith has regained the net as he has started four of the last six games. Michael Frolik has had a setback from his lower body injury and has not skated for the past week. Travis Hamonic is one tough hockey player. He broke his nose in Sunday’s game, finished the contest and was back in the lineup Tuesday.

CAROLINA

Games this week

vs. Toronto, @ Montreal, vs. Washington, vs. Arizona

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: vs. Washington (Friday)

Notes

The Hurricanes play three games in four nights as part of their four-game week. Curtis McElhinney and Petr Mrazek could split the net this week but if there is a three/one split, then it is likely that McElhinney gets the nod. The Hurricanes have moved Martin Necas, their first-round pick and 12th overall last season, from center to the right side in the AHL and the results have been great as he has four goals in his last five games. He could be back with Carolina shortly. The Canes welcomed back Brett Pesce to the lineup on Wednesday. He had been out with a lower-body injury and although he has little fantasy value, his presence on the blueline was sorely missed.

CHICAGO

Games this week

@ Winnipeg, vs. Pittsburgh, vs. Winnipeg, vs. San Jose

Rested Team: vs. Winnipeg (Friday)

Tired Team: vs. Pittsburgh (Wednesday)

Notes

The Blackhawks play four games this week including three games in four nights. Corey Crawford should get three starts in net with Cam Ward getting one start. Crawford was in net Thursday in Vegas and had his losing streak extend to seven games. The Blackhawks power play has been horrible of late as they have scored only once in their last 23 opportunities. As I have written before in the last couple of weeks, I don’t understand why the Arizona Coyotes gave up on Dylan Strome so quickly.  They thought so highly of him just three years ago to pick him over Mitch Marner, Noah Hanifin, Ivan Provorov etc. etc. and then just gave up. He has three goals in six games with Chicago after scoring seven in 48 games over three seasons with the Coyotes.

COLORADO

Games this week

vs. Edmonton, @ St. Louis, vs. Dallas

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: vs. Dallas (Saturday)

Notes

The Avalanche welcomed Tyson Barrie back to the lineup on Tuesday after he missed four games with a lower-body injury. His return put Samuel Girard back on the second power play. The Avs won Thursday 5-2 but it was the lesser lights who led the way as Mikko Rantanen and Nathan MacKinnon combined for only two points. Rantanen’s goal was his 12th but he leads the NHL in points with 47 while his centerman MacKinnon is second with 44. Rantanen has a 10-game scoring streak. Soderberg had a pair of goals Thursday and has 11 this season with 10 helpers in 29 games. His career high is 16, set in 2013-14 and tied last season but he is well on his way to crushing that mark.

COLUMBUS

Games this week

vs. Vancouver, vs. Los Angeles, vs. Anaheim

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

Seth Jones should be a future Norris Trophy winner. Thursday was a good example as he scored twice, including the overtime winner, to lead the Blue Jackets to a 4-3 win over the Flyers. Jones missed the start of the season with a knee injury but still have five goals and 16 points in only 21 games this season.  Add to Jones, Zach Werenski and Ryan Murray and unless one gets dealt, that will be some blueline for years to come. Cam Atkinson is showing that last season was the anomaly as he has 19 goals and 31 points this season. He is on a 12-game scoring streak and has been the Blue Jackets best offensive player, topping even Artemi Panarin this season.

DALLAS

Games this week

@ Anaheim, @ San Jose, @ Colorado

Rested Team: @ Colorado (Saturday)

Tired Team: @ San Jose (Thursday)

Notes

The Stars play three games in four nights so look for Ben Bishop to play twice with Anton Khudobin playing once. Martin Hanzal has been cleared to return to action. He has been out all year with a back injury. Hanzal was an off-season signing for Dallas in the summer of 2017 and has been hurt the majority of his time with the Stars. When healthy, he is a strong third center but those times have been few and far between. John Klingberg has been out of the Dallas lineup since November 8 as he had surgery on his hand but is expected to return around Christmas. His return will hurt the progression of rookie defenseman Miro Heiskanen as Heiskanen has been seeing first power time with Klingberg injured.  Valeri Nichushkin has only four assists in 22 games and has been a healthy scratch at times. He looks lost out there.

DETROIT

Games this week

vs. Los Angeles, @ Washington, vs. Ottawa, @ New York Islanders

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: @ Washington (Tuesday), @ New York Islanders (Saturday)

Notes

The Red Wings play a pair of back-to-back games this week so look for Jimmy Howard and Jonathan Bernier to split the net. Gustav Nyquist had only two goals in his first 22 games this season with the Red Wings but he has five in his last six games. The Red Wings placed Danny DeKeyser on the injured reserve list with a hand injury that will keep him out of action for the next four-six weeks. Rookie Michael Rasmussen will stay with the Red Wings and will not play for Team Canada at the World Junior Tournament. The Red Wings think highly of the 19-year-old who was selected ninth overall in 2017. The Red Wings will send their first round pick of 2018, Filip Zadina, to the World Juniors where he will play for the Czech Republic. The sixth overall pick has seven goals and 15 points in 23 games at Grand Rapids.

EDMONTON

Games this week

@ Colorado, @ Winnipeg, vs. Philadelphia, @ Vancouver

Rested Team: @ Vancouver (Sunday)

Tired Team: vs. Philadelphia (Friday)

Notes

The Oilers play four games this week including three games in four nights. Mikko Koskinen should get three starts as he has taken over as the number one goaltender from Cam Talbot. Talbot should get one start and could get a second. Connor McDavid missed Monday’s game with an illness but returned to action on Wednesday. Drake Caggiula is out with a hand injury and has been placed on the injured reserve list. Jujhar Khaira has replaced him on the second line with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Jesse Puljujarvi. Oscar Klefbom has taken control of the Oilers blueline offensively. He has three goals and seven points in his last six games to give him 15 points this season. He is worth looking at in deeper pools.

FLORIDA

Games this week

@ St. Louis, @ Minnesota, vs. Toronto

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: None

Notes

Aaron Ekblad has six goals this season with four coming on the power play. He is tied with Minnesota’s Matt Dumba for the NHL lead among defensemen. The Panthers got Roberto Luongo back in net this week after he missed five games with a knee injury. The 39-year-old netminder will likely have injury problems the rest of his career (that’s what happens when you get old) and need to get a better backup than James Reimer. Jonathan Huberdeau was named the third star of the week as he had two goals and nine points in four games. He is up to seven goals and 31 points this season but saw his six-game multi-point scoring streak come to an end.

LOS ANGELES

Games this week

@ Detroit, @ Buffalo, @ Columbus, @ Pittsburgh

Rested Team:  Pittsburgh (Saturday)

Tired Team: @ Buffalo (Tuesday)

Notes

The Kings play four games this week including three games in four nights. Jonathan Quick will get two starts and likely three with Cal Petersen getting the remainder of the action. They claimed forward Nikita Scherbak off waivers from Montreal this week. Scherbak was drafted 26th overall in 2014 and the 22-year-old could be a source of some offense for Los Angeles. The Kings also picked up Brendan Leipsic from Vancouver on waivers and the former Maple Leaf, Golden Knight and Canuck should provide some scoring for the Kings. Los Angeles lost winger Ilya Kovalchuk for four weeks as the Kings placed him on injured reserve after an ankle bursectomy procedure. Trevor Lewis is out four-five weeks after undergoing surgery Tuesday to stabilize a fractured foot.

MINNESOTA

Games this week

vs. Montreal, vs. Florida, vs. Calgary

Rested Team: None

Tired Team:  None

Notes

After picking up 11 points in eight games, Mikko Koivu has gone pointless in his last three games. He suffered a knee injury Thursday night when he took a hit from Mark Giordano of the Flames and there was no update after the contest. Devan Dubnyk has lost each of his last four games and has seen his stats take a hit. He is 9-8-2 this season with a 2.72 GAA and a .909 save percentage, a far cry from earlier in the season when he was one of the NHL’s best. Mikael Granlund is averaging over a point-a-game as he has 11 goals and 17 assists in 27 games. Nino Niederreiter has only three goals this season in 27 games after averaging almost 22 goals per season in his last four campaigns.

MONTREAL

Games this week

@ Minnesota, vs. Carolina, vs. Ottawa

Rested Team: vs. Ottawa (Saturday)

Tired Team: None

Notes

Carey Price may be getting some of his mojo back as he has won his last two games. He is 10-8-4 with mediocre as he has a 2.96 GAA and a .900 save percentage. That sounds more David Price-like than Carey Price-like. Paul Byron went seven games without a goal until scoring twice on Thursday. He was also injured for 13 games with a lower-body injury, the main reason he had last scored on October 20. Byron has four points in his last four games and is worth considering in deep pools as he has 11 points in 15 games. Max Domi has 13 goals and 30 points in 28 games and is only five goals away from tying his career high of 18 set in his rookie season of 2015-16. Noah Juulsen could be back this week from a facial fracture that occurred on November 19. He is skating with his teammates.

 NASHVILLE

vs. Ottawa, vs. Vancouver, vs. New Jersey

Rested Team: vs. New Jersey (Saturday)

Tired Team: None

Notes

The Predators have struggled of late, losing four of their last seven games. P.K. Subban has missed the last 10 games with an upper-body injury and there is still no timetable for his return. The blueliner was skating last week but apparently that is not the case this week. Stay tuned. The Predators recalled Eeli Tolvanen on the weekend and he responded with a goal and an assist in his season’s debut against Chicago. He has been scoreless the last two games but I would still recommend him in most fantasy leagues as he is offensively talented. Pekka Rinne continues to have an outstanding season as he is 12-5-1 with a 1.96 GAA and a .930 save percentage.

NEW JERSEY

Games this week

@ San Jose, vs. Vegas, @ Nashville

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: @ San Jose (Monday), @ Nashville (Saturday)

Notes

The Los Angeles Kings are the cure for most teams and it was for the Devils as they came into the game with a 2-10-1 record on the road, the worst in the NHL. But in the battle of the worst team in the East and the worst in the West, the Devils were victorious on the road for only the third time all season, 6-3. Kyle Palmieri got off to an amazing start this season with seven goals in his first four games but had only five in his next 22 contests before striking for a pair on Thursday. Taylor Hall had a big game with three helpers. It was around this time last season when he took off scoring and ended up winning the Hart Trophy. The weekly Cory Schneider update includes another week without a win in the regular season as he nears the one-year mark of his last victory, December 27, 2017.

NEW YORK ISLANDERS

Games this week

vs. Pittsburgh, vs. Vegas, vs. Detroit

Rested Team: vs. Detroit (Saturday)

Tired Team: None

Notes

Anders Lee had 74 goals over the last two seasons playing with John Tavares. There was concern (and rightly so) that Lee would regress as Tavares was no longer an Islander and he had only seven goals in his first 23 games this season but he has found the back of the net in each of his last four contests and is back on pace to score over 30. Josh Bailey was moved down to the third line and played with Valtteri Filppula and Leo Komarov Thursday while Tom Kuhnhackl took over Bailey’s spot on a line with Mathew Barzal and Anthony Beauvillier. Christopher Gibson was recalled to back up Thomas Greiss after Robin Lehner tweaked something and could not play.       Barzal is back on the first power play after replacing Filppula as the Islanders are trying to get the first unit going.

NEW YORK RANGERS

Games this week

@ Tampa Bay, vs. Arizona, vs. Vegas

Rested Team: vs. Arizona (Friday)

Tired Team: None

 Notes

The Rangers sent Alexandar Georgiev to the minors but it’s to get him some playing time as a good 22-year-old goaltender should not be at the end of the bench watching Henrik Lundqvist play the vast majority of the games. The Rangers were scheduled to play only on Saturday this past week so it was a good opportunity for him to good. He is okay with the decision and that’s important for a player to go down with a good attitude. I like him in dynasty leagues. A bunch of injured Rangers could return on December 8 as Mats Zuccarello (groin), Pavel Buchnevich (broken thumb), Vladislav Namestnikov (concussion) and Adam McQuaid (lower body) could all return. Ryan Strome has two goals in nine games as well as four assists. He had only one helper in 18 games with the Oilers before the trade.

OTTAWA

Games this week

@ Nashville, @ Detroit, @ Montreal

Rested Team: None

Tired Team: @ Montreal (Saturday)

Notes

The Senators got a lot of bad news this week as they lost Bobby Ryan and Matt Duchene to injury. Ryan is going to be out for a long time as he may have suffered a concussion. Duchene has a lower-body injury and is expected to be out for the foreseeable future. Both were injured Thursday against Montreal. Duchene’s loss will be huge as he had 12 goals and 34 points in 29 games. Maxime Lajoie has an undisclosed injury and did not play Thursday. The Senators and Penguins made a minor-league two-for-two deal and sent Macoy Erkamps and Ben Sexton, receiving Tobias Lindberg and Stefan Elliott in return. Rookie Brady Tkachuk continues to impress as he has nine goals and 16 points in 18 games.

PHILADELPHIA

Games this week

@ Calgary, @ Edmonton, @ Vancouver

Rested Team: @ Edmonton (Friday)

Tired Team: @ Vancouver (Saturday)

Notes

The Flyers play three games in four nights this week as they continue their Western Canadian swing after a game in Winnipeg. Look for Michal Neuvirth to play twice with Anthony Stolarz also getting a start. Travis Sanheim could not find the back of the net in his first 25 games but scored twice on Thursday. Dave Hakstol moved James van Riemsdyk and Wayne Simmonds to the second line with Nolan Patrick as the Flyers have now won only once in their last eight games. Jakub Voracek is seeing third line duty with the move as he is playing alongside Scott Laughton and Michael Raffl. The Flyers hired Chuck Fletcher as their new General Manager, replacing the fired Ron Hextall.

PITTSBURGH

Games this week

@ New York Islanders, @ Chicago, vs. Buffalo, vs. Los Angeles

Rested Team: @ Chicago (Wednesday)

Tired Team: vs. Los Angeles (Saturday)

Notes

The Penguins play three games in four nights as part of their four-game week. Casey DeSmith will likely get the call in goal three times this week with Tristan Jarry playing once. Smith is 8-4-3 this season with a 2.46 GAA and a .922 save percentage. Those were the numbers the Penguins were hoping that Matt Murray would have but the injured goaltender was 4-5-1 with a 4.08 GAA and a .877 save percentage before going down. Kris Letang has 24 points in 26 games while Phil Kessel is up to 12 goals and 33 points in 27 games after a four-point effort on Thursday. His name has been bandied about in trade rumors so stay tuned. As reported in the Senators blurb, the Penguins and Senators completed a two-for-two deal in which Macoy Erkamps and Ben Sexton are on their way to the Penguins organization with Tobias Lindberg and Stefan Elliott headed the other way.

ST. LOUIS

Games this week

vs. Florida, vs. Colorado, vs. Calgary

Rested Team: vs. Calgary (Sunday)

Tired Team: None

Notes

New head coach Craig Berube thinks the Blues could be fragile now as they are having a tough go of it. Berube stated that the Blues, who got off to a 2-0 lead over Edmonton on Wednesday, tried to hold onto the lead instead of trying to increase their lead and it came back to haunt them in a 3-2 shootout loss. Jaden Schwartz could be back in the lineup this week as he has been out since November 16 with an upper body injury. He has only two goals and nine points in 15 games this season. The Blues lost Alex Pietrangelo this week with a hand injury and the injury could require surgery. He won’t be re-evaluated until around Christmas so he is out for a while. Alexander Steen is out with a concussion.

SAN JOSE

Games this week

vs. New Jersey, vs. Dallas, @ Chicago

Rested Team: vs. New Jersey (Monday), vs. Dallas (Thursday)

Tired Team: None

Notes

Timo Meier returned in style Wednesday with a goal and two assists after missing the previous three games with an upper body injury. Meier has 14 goals and 26 points in 26 games. Joe Thornton has four goals and 12 points in 20 games this season after a three-assist performance Wednesday. He has just passed Mario Lemieux for 11th all-time in assists with 1,038 and is just two assists behind Marcel Dionne for 10th and 11 in arrears of the great Gordie Howe. Thornton is a sure-fire Hall-of-Famer. Kevin Labanc has only three goals this season but does have 19 points, while Joe Pavelski has 18 goals but only six assists. Erik Karlsson continues to disappoint his fantasy owners with only 16 points in 29 games.

TAMPA BAY

Games this week

vs. New York Rangers, vs. Toronto, @ Winnipeg

Notes

Brayden Point had a breakout season in 2017-18 with 32 goals and 34 assists but the 22-year-old has taken his game to a new level this season with 21 goals and 38 points in 30 games. He is tied for the NHL lead in goals with Alex Ovechkin and Patrik Laine. That is elite company. Nikita Kucherov has been terrific as well as he is third in NHL scoring with 43 points. He saw his 10-game scoring streak come to an end on Tuesday. Andrei Vasilevskiy was given a four-six week timetable when he broke his foot on November 16 and it looks like it will be closer to six weeks as he should be back between Christmas and the New Year. Edward Pasquale saw his first career action as he got the start Tuesday. He picked up the win but gave up five goals on 24 shots as the Lightning won in a shootout.

TORONTO

Games this week

Notes

Well the big news this week was that William Nylander finally signed his contract with minutes to spare on December 1. There was obvious rust in his game when he made his season’s debut Thursday and he slowly dropped from the first line to a bottom-six role before not playing at all in the last 11:37 of regulation time. Auston Matthews continued his superstar pace as he returned to the lineup on November 28 after missing a month with a shoulder injury and promptly had points in all four games as he had five goals and eight points. It gives him 24 points in 15 games including 15 goals. Matthews has 89 NHL goals in only 157 games. That’s a goal scorer! Kasperi Kapanen has 11 goals and 21 points in 29 games this season as well as a plus-15 rating.

VANCOUVER

Games this week

@ Columbus, @ Nashville, vs. Philadelphia, vs. Edmonton

Rested Team: vs. Philadelphia (Saturday)

Tired Team: vs. Edmonton (Sunday)

Notes

The Canucks play four games this week including three in four nights so expect to see Jacob Markstrom play two and maybe three games with Anders Nilsson in net for the rest. Elias Pettersson scored on a penalty shot Thursday for his first goal in five games. Josh Leivo was dealt from Toronto to Vancouver for minor leaguer Michael Carcone and scored in his Vancouver debut. He will get a better chance in Vancouver rather than Toronto and could be considered in deeper leagues. That he is playing alongside Pettersson and Brock Boeser won’t hurt his cause. Sam Gagner was sent back to the minors after scoring once and adding two assists in seven games. Antoine Roussel has a team-leading 67 penalty minutes.

Notes

William Karlsson became the first Golden Knight to reach the 100-point mark in a Vegas uniform with an assist on Deryk Engelland’s goal Thursday. It was the first goal of the season for Engelland. It was the 112th career game for the Golden Knights. Cody Eakin was slated to be the Golden Knights top center when he was taken in the expansion draft last season. He quickly moved down to a bottom-six role and had 11 goals and 27 points in 80 games. This season, Eakin has been a force offensively as he has 11 goals in 27 games to tie Jonathan Marchessault for the team lead. He has 19 points thus far. Marc-Andre Fleury has been strong in net as he is 16-9-1 with a 2.43 GAA and a .912 save percentage. They need better work from their backup as Malcolm Subban is 0-4-0 with a 4.03 GAA and a .859 save percentage.

WASHINGTON

vs. Detroit, @ Carolina, vs. Buffalo

Rested team: vs. Detroit (Tuesday), @ Carolina (Friday)

Tired Team: vs. Buffalo (Saturday)

Notes

The Capitals play three games this week and are the rested team twice and the tired team once. Tom Wilson was off to a tremendous offensive start once he returned from his suspension as he had eight goals and 14 points in 11 games with a plus-eight rating and 21 penalty minutes. But Wilson suffered a suspected concussion Tuesday against the Golden Knights when he was hit hard by Ryan Reaves who was thrown out of the game for the hit. Wilson could be out for a while. Sergei Shumakov was placed on unconditional waivers and will likely return to the KHL after it didn’t work out for him in North America. Jakub Vrana scored a couple on Tuesday to give him eight goals this season. T.J. Oshie has resumed skating after suffering a concussion on November 14. There is no word on his return.

WINNIPEG

Notes

The Jets play four games this week and three of them are in four nights. Connor Hellebuyck should get the net three times with Laurent Brossoit playing once. Patrik Laine was the first star for the month of November with 18 goals and an assist in 12 games. An anomaly is that he became the first player to pick up a hat trick in three countries as he had one in Finland when the Jets played Florida, one in Canada against the Canucks in Vancouver and a five-goal performance in St. Louis. He is pointless in three December games. The Jets are hurting on the blueline with Dustin Byfuglien out with a concussion, Josh Morrissey suffering from a lower body injury (but hopefully back on the weekend) and Dmitry Kulikov out with an upper body injury.
