MIAMI (Oct. 27, 2020) – FOX Sports Florida, the television home of the Miami Marlins, will take a look back at an unforgettable season tomorrow, Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m. with the statewide premiere of the “Miami Marlins Season Review” special.
The Marlins reported for Spring Training on Feb. 17th with several new faces competing at just about every position and high hopes for the year to come. It wasn’t long into Spring Training when COVID-19 and the onset of a global pandemic brought baseball to a halt. Following a hiatus of two-plus months, Major League Baseball returned with a 60-game schedule. Following a pair of exhibition games vs. the Braves in Atlanta, Miami opened the season in Philadelphia, winning two-of-three against the Phillies before a coronavirus outbreak hit the team. Little did the Marlins know this would be the first domino to fall in an incredible span that saw the team quarantine and rally around each other in their pursuit of a postseason berth, the first in 17 years.
From the rise of rookie pitchers Sixto Sánchez and Trevor Rogers, through the trade deadline acquisition of All-Star outfielder Starling Marte, to the team’s united response on the field and in the community to fight against social injustice, the storylines all receive an in-depth look on the Wednesday night debut of the “Miami Marlins Season Review.”
Tune in tomorrow on FOX Sports Florida and FOX Sports GO to relive Miami’s chase for a spot in the postseason-opening Wild Card Series, and how a team that called ‘Bottom Feeders’ took the moniker, embraced it and made a statement to Major League Baseball fans and pundits everywhere that the Marlins are here to stay.
