John Tortorella earns career coaching win #600 as Blue Jackets top Predators in OT

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Artemi Panarin scored his second goal of the night 1:22 into overtime to lift the Columbus Blue Jackets past the Nashville Predators, 4-3 on Thursday night.

The Blue Jackets went up 3-1 with two quick goals in the third period and appeared as if they might cruise from there. But the Predators answered with two scores in a 38-second span to tie it and set up the overtime goal for Panarin on a 4-on-3 power play.

Boone Jenner also had two goals, and Zach Werenski had a pair of assists for the Blue Jackets in the 600th career coaching win for John Tortorella, the 19th coach in NHL history to reach that milestone. It also was the first time Columbus beat Nashville in the last five tries dating to November 2015.

Joonas Korpisalo had 32 saves for Columbus. He got the start because Sergei Bobrovsky was scratched because of an unspecified “incident,” according to the team, with no clear idea of when the Vezina Trophy-winner might be back.

Mattias Ekholm had a goal and an assist, and Nick Bonino and Viktor Arvidsson also scored in the third period for the Predators. They had won three in a row.

Pekka Rinne made 29 saves for Nashville.
