Nathan Walker made NHL history back in October 2017 with the Washington Capitals. Two years later, his accolades were featured in “Millionaire Hot Seat,” Australia’s version of “Who Wants to be a Millionaire.”
If there were any Capitals fans on the show, we know that they would be one step closer to the $1 million.
Walker had an incredible debut with the Caps, writing another record in the NHL books by scoring his first goal on the same night. Not only was he the first Australian-born player to play in the NHL, but he also had the only Aussie goal in NHL history. Instantly he was a fan favorite.
The Capital spent most of the past season down with the Caps’ AHL affiliate, the Hershey Bears. There he was the Bears’ fifth highest scorer with 17 goals and 22 assists. He was only called up to Washington for three games where he recorded his first career NHL assist.
Walker, 24, also spent a brief period with the Edmonton Oilers in the 2017-18 season, but ultimately landed back with the Capitals.
This offseason the center will become an unrestricted free agent.
